This year the fruit is from the Coal River and we are loving it! Tensile and freshly fruited with just enough oak. There’s texture to make all the white peach and nectarine feel almost visible, and it’s all smooth thanks to some driven vanilla cream notes.

This feels like a wine that’s showing off a lot of charming assets. From the green apple snap and zest of lemon citrus to the light mealy note from some time on lees, along with the chalky pith that is almost palpable, and dipped in salt. Pour, pour, pour, it’s beautifully coloured, delicious Gamay with real substance that’s robust with sweet, spiced tannin and the best juices – red cherry, raspberry and a dab of strawberry. They’re doing good things at Coulter.

Bargain Mornington Pinot with plenty of body and a profile that is bold but never obnoxious. Think bay leaf and vanillin plums that sit amongst sublime cherries, it all runs clean with fresh acidity. It’s a perfect dinner wine, whether you can be bothered cooking or not.
