Fruit builds and builds, but things stay approachable and minerally throughout. The style is flinty and crispy, and there’s some citrus that just pushes through without ever hogging the limelight. Lovely.

Pannell nails to the cheerful flavours – dark fruits, salinity and charcuterie aromatics, but Merrivale is distinguished by the earthy tannins which remind us of dust thrown up by a car, flying across a dirt road. That might sound odd, but it fits, and the wine(making) is amazing.

A blend of white vineyards that gets a short maceration period and comes through with crispy fruits and electric acidity. Picture some waxy lemons and slices of tropical fruits that are so delicate, they’re almost transparent.

A brilliant wine for the money. Think deep, sweet red fruits and some liquorice root that gives all the comforting weight and richness. There’s also enough savoury tannic bite and bright acidity for it to be perfect for salami.

Aromatics, subtle fruit notes and texture. We love it when drinks ooze a vibe, this tastes like footpath dining with friends at 5pm. That means it’s full of melon, subtle strawberry and a salty, creamy finesse. There’s also just enough grip to let everything linger.

All those layers are wrapped in boysenberries and cherries. Perfect in a carafe between you and the last slice of pizza, while supporting your favourite Italian football (soccer) team.

An old-school West Coast IPA that can turn back time to when you were wearing painted-on Cheap Mondays with baggy Schwipe t-shirts and putting on Justice at work even though no one else was into that ‘noise.’ That was probably when you had your first real IPA. This is as crispy, dank, citrusy and magical as that beer was.

Summer was pretty mild in Perth over 2022-23, so these grapes got a long ripening meaning plenty of depth and balance. There is a small portion of new oak to deepen the palate and bring cacao nib, liquorice root and blue fruits. It is svelte and supple and perfect for the Syrah drinkers in your life.

Italians and Spaniards get along given time to ferment, and Somos are here to celebrate that. The ‘friends’ are Verdelho and Muscat Blanc à Petits Grains and they’re all about minerality and textural flow.

Somos Fiano & Amigos Fiano blend 2023 / 2024

A real life super wine that’s lovely and ripe, but sustains a lot of cool climate tension – depth. Expect plenty of minerality and a crisp finish that gives you slivers of grapefruit and citrus in a bright package that are breathtaking now, but will become more velvety with age.

Provenance Henty Chardonnay 2022

Fumé Sauvignons are generally softer and have a little more oak. This follows that style with some lovely refinement. Subtle on the nose before a full and refreshing palate of grass, lime citrus and passionfruit – tastes like a picnic.

One of the best white Burgundy’s we’ve had in a long time! Most of the fruit is from Meursault, with some from surrounding communes where things are a little richer, but there’s a perfect amount of acidity, fruit and tannin. Pair with fancy cheese and one other person – at the most.

Matrot Bourgogne Blanc Chardonnay 2022

Who’d have thought… Sangiovese plus Merlot and Sagrantino can equal a Gamay-like wine. When it’s light and delicate thanks to a favourable growing season and the vines being at altitude. Unique and lovely.

Great value Shiraz that plays all the blackberry, liquorice classics with elegance. There’s also trademark sage, black fruits and sweet spice – it’s traditional at it’s best. Sometimes you just wanna play The Stones and wear Levis.

Kaesler Reach For The Sky Shiraz 2021

Light and delicate. There’s a lot of subtlety and nuance here and everything runs pure thanks to most fruits being destemmed and only a week on skins. It’s chilled red with an undertone of earthiness that’s alive with strawberry and pomegranate.
