There’s something about Canberra District Shiraz. That elevation means warm days, cool nights, and concentration. This wine comes together with black and white pepper, firm tannins and a schmear of olive tapenade. Victorian Shiraz lovers take two and save yourself from having to come back.

Another clever blend that lets Rouleur shape the kind of Pinot they, and we, love. Drinks with some dusty cherry, savoury spices and a tangy acidity that seems made for steak frites.

We’re absolutely in Rouleurs peloton of admirers. This gets time in oak to give some spice and sweetness, but it has enough elegance to let all the flowers, almond meal and citrus pith come through clearly.

Vivid and flush with lush fruits, earthy edges, and some savoury spice. Saltfleet is absolutely delicious and a great rendition of a local Rhône blend. Take it to a BBQ and show it off, and don’t be surprised if people ask for wine recommendations.

Saltfleet GSM 2023

With a little decant Intrinsic settles and comes through bright with boysenberry, pomegranate and some cherry-depth. Owen Latta and his crew have done amazingly well, and made the most of trying weather conditions. This is one to cellar, or enjoy now and it’s punching well above its price point.

Fleshy sweet berries and raspberry leaf wrapped in a little cakey spice. It’s a shapeshifting 1,500ml that’ll go nicely in your tote and off to the park for an afternoon. Bags like these produce 80% less carbon emission than glass so we’re big fans and will keep stocking these jiggly magnums. (1500ml)

Offer up glasses of flowing, liquored berries, sweet cherries and some blackcurrant essence tonight to yourself or those lucky enough to be in your (and this bottle’s) company. Soft n plush with enough tannin to keep you engaged, even after the conversation has lulled and everyone’s on Insta.

Gudilly Shiraz 2022

A wine with plenty of complexity that’s bold like a neighbour who never turns the music down, but plays what you love and don’t mind hearing. Fruits are all crunchy and red, but there’s also some blackberry and the tannins are dusty meaning this gets along with a steak – lion’s mane or beef. It also spent just enough time in oak to add a little extra velvet wallpaper.

Amen Break Gravelly Gully Central Otago Pinot Noir 2023

A blend from up the hill (Red Hill) and down the hill (Tuerong) that captures Mornington really well and serves it up with a little flash of oak, but plenty of stone fruit and some zesty lemon. It’s Spring/Summer wine that’ll bring your best cabana frame of mind, from the tropicana feelings to the endless supply of 2 in 1 sunscreen/tanning oil you have.

Montalto Pennon Hill Chardonnay 2023

Take it to a dinner party, but don’t make a big deal about it, you’ll get more that way. The tannins have a little sappy snap and there’s good concentration, but it’s fresh all the way and has a crisp outlook that’s cheese friendly.

Precipice Pinot Noir 2023

Sourced from two blocks across the McLaren Vale, this is a Shiraz with a deep sense of place. Dark, blueberries lead the charge on the nose, before salted meats and a wash of lovely, chalky tannin sweeps the palate.

Paralian Springs Hill Shiraz 2023

We’re in on that alone, but there’s also a sturdy backbone of compact stone fruit and a nice citrussy-sherbety pull of acidity to keep you energised over the warmer months. We recommend pouring this into a fishbowl-sized wine glass, giving it a little swirl and savouring everything it has to offer. Superb modern Chardonnay that also deserves some space in the cellar.

Nocturne Treeton Sub Region Chardonnay 2024

Extremely drinkable Mornington Pinot Noir laden with the region's signature red fruits, along with cherry and cherry pip, and raspberry, with some underlying forestal earthiness and soft tannin. We suggest getting a second bottle, the first will go in no time!

Foxeys Hangout The Red Fox Pinot Noir 2023

Dark currants and wild raspberry sweetness is moored with an edge of whole bunch savouriness and spice, woven through long and fine tannins. If you can bear to wait, this will only get better over the next five years.

PHI Lusatia Park Pinot Noir 2023

A brilliant, peppery number that'll warm up any chilly night. Spicy and savoury, with notes of smoky charcuterie and dark fruits. A splash of Viognier tempers the tannin structure and brings a deep purple glow to the glass. Perfect with your best BBQing - is your gas bottle full?

Provenance Geelong Shiraz 2022

Deep, saturating plum, liquorice strap and some earthy spice play beautifully alongside vanillin oak and just a flash of bitumen-like reduction. The fruit flavours, and tannins, will linger long after the bottle empties.

Lloyd Brothers Hills + Coast Shiraz 2022

A modern and pure Chardonnay serving up everything there is to love about this variety in spades. Pristine notes of grapefruit and lemon citrus and balm. Deftly light-medium-weighted, with a line of pure, clean acidity woven through. Coming from three sites in the Yarra Valley and aged in a mix of French oak barriques, puncheons and foudre for eight to nine months.

BISTRO Chardonnay 2022

Sweet notes of blueberry, generous plum and dark liquorice are all wrapped up with some nice, rich tannin for a crowd-pleaser of the highest order.
